The regular Austro-Hungarian army, that is, the Imperial and Royal Army, was the joint army of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Together with the divisions of Landwera, Honwed and Landsturm, it formed the land forces of the Danube monarchy (Ger. Landstreitkrräfte). Of course, the most numerous type of armed force in the Austro-Hungarian army was the infantry. Infantry Division regular Austro-Hungarian army most often it consisted of two infantry brigades with a total of 4 infantry regiments and an artillery brigade. Its basic machine gun was the Schwarzlose M.07 and M.07 / 12 heavy machine guns, entered into service in 1907 under the designation MG 07. This weapon had a caliber of 8 mm and weighed about 44 kilograms with the tripod. Although heavy, it was lighter than its German or Russian counterpart. This weapon, however, was characterized by a rather complicated design and a low rate of fire of 400 rounds per minute, which, however, was improved in the M.07 / 12 model. These weapons were assigned at the battalion and regiment level, and in the last years of the war (1917-1918), heavy machine gun companies consisting of eight Schwarzlose machine guns began to be formed.
