In 1934, the innovative ANT-40 aircraft design was developed at the CAGI plant under the leadership of Tupolev. The first bombers of this type went to units as SB-2, and Czechoslovakia received a production license, where the aircraft of this type were called Avia B-71. The Soviet Union delivered 60 aircraft under the license agreement, while the Avia plant had produced approximately 100 aircraft by March 1939.
